Another idea is to take into account awards and reviews relating to credit cards to see which ones are proving popular in the market.

For the second year in a row the M&S credit card has been voted best in the Your Money Direct Awards 2007. This credit card has proven very popular amongst borrowers and offers a range of benefits. M&S launched its own life insurance policy just a year ago, yet it also managed to scoop the best life insurance award too.

One of the judges describes the quality and standard of service that came with the life insurance policy from M&S as "qualities that characterise the entire operation of M&S Money" The life cover was deemed to be one of the best value policies on the market, with a premium of jut £5 per month for protective cover.

One spokesperson from M&S stated: "What makes these awards really special is that they are judged by Your Money's readers, so they represent the true feelings of our customers and potential customers. We're especially pleased with our double win, for M&S life insurance and our credit card for the second year running."
